MacLean Senior Industries, Inc., is committed to global environmental conservation and is currently in the process of converting our products to Lead (Pb) - Free, in conjunction with the RoHS Directive (Restrictions on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) adopted by the European Union Council of Ministers. Effective July 1, 2006, RoHS bans the use of certain materials in electronic components sold in Western Europe:
- Hexavalent Chromium
- PBB (polybromobiphenyl)
- PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ethers)
The most recent issue of the RoHS Directive can be seen by clicking below:
Lead-free implementation is an important component in MacLean Senior Industries' commitment to taking an active part in protecting our environment and it is our responsibility to our valued customers.
To meet the lead free directive, we are converting tin/lead plating to a full tin plate. Additionally, since lead-free soldering requires the use of higher temperatures during the soldering process, we are upgrading our plastic materials to withstand 260 degrees C for 5-10 seconds.
Many products are already RoHS compliant. The balance of our products will be compliant by July 2005.
